What's New in 5.7.0

A high level overview of the new main features added to version 5.7.0.

Detailed information and a full list of features and enhancements can be found in the technical release notes and in the documentation set.

New Features

  • Improved Rule Permissions Mechanism: Rules can now be classified by business logic, allowing only users authorized for the specific line of business to view and/or modify them.
  • Support Elasticsearch Security Features (XPack): This enhancement enables connecting to Elasticsearch with a secured connection (SSL) and authentication.
  • Support Running Investigation Center Manual Workflow Actions on a Backend Server: It is now possible to configure the system to run user performed workflow actions on a backend server. This is recommended when only the front end (Investigation Center) is exposed to the Internet and you don’t want to expose additional servers to the Internet (causing a potential security vulnerability).
  • Enhanced Job Execution Load Balancing between Servers: An enhanced load balancing mechanism is used to assign resources and ensure that the work on the servers is distributed equally. This mechanism determines the server the job is executed on, according to how busy the server is, in terms of the number of jobs running on the server and their estimated workload.
  • Ensuring Availability of External Systems when Starting the Server: When starting the system, external resources such as the database, Elasticsearch, and LDAP may take a while to start. The system now waits and reattempts to connect.
  • Support for an Additional TLS Cipher Suite: The TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA256 (0x003B) Cipher Suite is now supported for decrypting internet traffic.
  • Support Connecting to Microsoft SQL Server using MS-JDBC Driver: Added support for connecting a Microsoft SQL server using MS-JDBC Driver. Support for the jTDS driver has been deprecated. Upgraded environments will continue to use jTDS and can be modified manually to use the new driver.

End of Support

Versions reaching end of support:
